AT AN ADJOURNED MEETING of the Nelson County Board of Supervisors (from April 27, 2006) at 6:00 p.m. in the Board Room located in the Nelson County Courthouse.

I.    Call to Order

Mr. Harris called the meeting to order at 6:06 p.m. with all members present to establish a quorum for the scheduled work session.

Prior to the commencement of work on the Fiscal Year 2006-2007 Budget, the Board of Supervisors received input from Ms. McCann on the purchase of motor vehicles for the Department of Building Inspections and the County’s Emergency Services Coordinator.  Following discussion, by consensus the Board agreed that County staff should complete the decision(s) on purchase of one vehicle for each of the aforementioned departments with input from Supervisor Harvey.

III.    Work Session on Fiscal Year 2006-2007 Budget

The Board of Supervisors continued work on Nelson County’s Fiscal Year 2006-2007 Budget, utilizing the work session to review Non-Departmental expenses, which includes the budget requests of local and regional agencies, organization and projects, etc.  Changes made by the Board, subject to formal approval of the FY 06-07 Budget, included an increase of $1,011 (to $216,611) for the Jefferson-Madison Regional Library, an increase of $5,050 (to $80,000) for the Jefferson Area Board for Aging, an increase of $2,232 (to $95,000) for the Jefferson Area United Transportation, Inc. (JAUNT), provision of $500 in total funding to the Sexual Assault Resource Agency, an increase of $880 (to $6,600) for the Gladstone Senior Center Meals program, an increase of $1,408 (to $10,560) for the Rockfish Senior Center Meals program, a decrease of $158 (to $5,000) for the Schuyler Senior Center Meals program (to provide the actual amount requested by the program) and, a decrease of $6,000, resulting in no local funding, to the Economic Development Authority with Supervisor Hale to meet with the EDA to provide background on the Board of Supervisors decision on this funding request.  In related discussion the Board agreed to request a report from the Nelson County Community Development Foundation to be scheduled (tentatively) for the regular business meeting on June 13, 2006.

No other changes were made within the Non-Departmental budget department and having completed this departmental budget the Board of Supervisors decided to conclude the budget work session.  The Board of Supervisors then discussed scheduling ensuing budget work sessions with concurrence, as previously established at the April 27, 2006 work session, for a meeting to be conducted on May 11 at 6:00 p.m. in the boardroom located in the Courthouse, which the Board will consider adjourning to from the May 9, 2006 regular meeting.

IV.     Other Business

By consensus, the Board of Supervisors agreed to add to the agenda for the May 9, 2006 regular session, under Board reports, discussion of property acquisition from the Massies Mill Community Center

On motion by Mr. Hale, seconded by Mr. Harvey, the Board of Supervisors voted unanimously (5-0) by roll call vote to adjourn the meeting at 8:07 p.m.
