There was no public comment.
Chairperson Alphonso Taylor called the meeting to order.
Motion: To approve the March 1, 2007 meeting minutes. Armstrong-Hall (4-0)
Stu Armstrong reviewed the March 2007 financial report; there is $170,511.59 on balance.
The business appreciation event is set for May 17 at The Carriage House at Oak Ridge from 5:30 – 7:00 pm.
The Charlottesville IDA meets on April 10, 2007 and after that meeting, it will be decided whether we will meet jointly with Dan Siegel for an EDA/IDA institute, or whether we will host Dan alone or whether EDA members might attend the April 24-25 VA Industrial Development Authorities Institute in Roanoke.
Four consultants have been interviewed for the broadband planning grant. It is anticipated that the project will be completed by October 2007.
The construction academy discussion was tabled until the May meeting.
Motion: To authorize Barbara Powell to execute all documents pursuant to the closing of the Callohill property. Hall-Kelly (4-0)
Stu Armstrong outlined the concept of a microloan program the Piedmont Housing Authority managed a few years ago. There was some program income gained from the project. If it is a sufficient amount, he will report to the Authority and the group may entertain another such endeavor.
Natt Hall suggested that the Authority work to create a program to help clean up less attractive areas of the county.
