The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Taylor.

Motion: To approve the August 2, 2007 meeting minutes as written. Armstrong-Powell (6-0)

Stu Armstrong reviewed the Treasurer’s report. The only other large expenditure not reflected in the June report is the $6250 payment to the Thomas Jefferson Partnership for Economic Development.

The survey for the broadband planning grant is complete and the surveys are now being tabulated and analyzed. There was a 22% return rate on the residential surveys and 19% return rate on the business surveys. Direct mail has an average return rate of 5%; the 22% and the 19% return rate confirm the avid interest and demand for broadband service in Nelson County. Phase I of the planning process began in June and will end in November. The management team is on track with all projects and timetables as set forth in the management contract with the VA Department of Housing and Community Development.

The October 4 meeting will include a discussion of the Colleen Business Park. Mike Harvey, Director of the Thomas Jefferson Partnership for Economic Development will attend the meeting.

Stu Armstrong distributed flyers for the Central Virginia Small Business Development Center’s new program, Business Circle Advantage.
