Chairperson Allen Hale called the meeting to order.
Nelson County Chamber of Commerce Board President, Heather Goodwin
updated the IDA on the status of the gateway signs and reviewed some of
the VDOT requirements for sign installment. If the IDA elects to
locate new gateway signs at the existing locations, the Chamber will
assist in the process, including the removal of the existing signs if
necessary. Maureen Corum will work on a plan and budget for the gateway
sign project for the IDA to consider.
The minutes of the April 1, 2004 meeting will be approved at the next meeting.
There was no public comment.
The Rutherford vs. IDA case has been settled, in favor of the
IDA. The judge still has to write the final decree; the plaintiff
has a period of time to appeal the decision.
Motion: To allocate $13,700 to fund the target industry study
project by 310 Marketing Ltd., with the County Economic Development
Office funding the remainder of the study.
Armstrong-Hall (4-1) Wheaton voted by proxy and Hale voted nay.
Maureen Corum presented the draft process for handling business
prospects, a list of the incentives offered by the region and the state
and the checklist for the financial review process. The Board of
Supervisors will review the draft process, with the final product to be
a report for each prospect file.
