Jean and Ann will provide all materials and help you create your very own personal mask, “magic wands” and wild woman earrings – with quick, silly writing exercises thrown into the mix. Gwen Weaver Origami Workshop: Please join us at The Meeting Place for this fantastic getaway weekend. Gwen Weaver, Virginia Beach, VA while growing up and attending Parochial school in Kensington Maryland, always seemed to have a scrap of paper in her pocket. Folding, creasing, opening, folding, over and over throughout the day, and by afternoon dismissal, the paper was as soft and smooth as fabric. Eureka! Little did she know a major course in her life was set in stone. Gwen received an Art History degree from the University of Maryland. Safe Sliders Kick-Off
To celebrate the National Ski Areas Association (NSAA) National Safety Awareness Week, Wintergreen launches its 2007 Safe Sliders program with an event featuring prizes, giveaways and Ridgeley the Bear on the Blue Ridge Terrace. Targeting children ages seven to 14, the Safe Sliders program promotes a unified safety message by distributing coloring books that feature safety guidelines; providing reflective zipper pulls that attach to children’s jackets; arranging ski helmet giveaways; as well as other presentations and safety programs throughout the season. Safe Sliders, a program developed by Wintergreen Resort and the University of Virginia Children’s Hospital, recently won the Best Youth Safety Program award from the National Ski Areas Association (NSAA) and the Excellence in Programming Award from the National Resort and Commercial Recreation Association (RCRA). 434-325-2100

Wounded Warriors Weekend
Wintergreen Adaptive Ski
Wintergreen Adaptive Skiing and Wintergreen Resort host more than 20 disabled soldiers and their families as part of their rehabilitation through Walter Reed Army Medical Center during the third annual Wounded Warriors Weekend. The soldiers are fitted with adaptive skis or snowboard equipment and learn a recreational skill on the slopes. Everyone is invited to experience this remarkable event and cheer on these heroes. Special Olympics Virginia
Alpine Skiing Championships
Nearly 100 Virginia athletes with intellectual disabilities will compete for the gold at the 2008 Special Olympics Virginia Alpine Skiing Championships. The two-day competition is held at Wintergreen Resort with time trials on the first day and the final competition on the second day. The opening ceremony kicks off the races on Monday and concludes with a dinner and dance. For more information, visit www.specialolympicsva.org.
