The Nelson County Chapter of the Future Farmers of America presents a Bluegrass Show at the Nelson County Middle School/High School Auditorium located on Rt. 29 close to Lovingston, Virginia at 4:00 pm. Featured bands include Hard Drivin' Grass, In The Tradition, Deer Creek Boys, and the Little Mountain Boys. Food and drink available, with a silent auction, bake sale and raffles.The Agronomy Team and the Meats Team won first place at the Virginia State Convention and will continue competition at the national level in October in Indiana.

The Hamner Theater presents Poe & All That Jazz , by Peter Coy. An intriguing glimpse into the tortured psyche of a brilliantly creative man and the women who inspired him. Featuring Jon Cobb as Poe with jazz vocalist Patti Finn as the women in his life, with pianist Bob Bennetta, and bassist Joe Tucker performing the music of Cole Porter & Johnny Mercer.
There will be a Champagne Reception following the Opening Night performance, Thursday October 25. Come in costume for the Halloween show!

Wintergreen Performing Arts presents a concert of chamber music featuring the Sospiro Winds at the DelFosse Vineyards and Winery. The Sospiro Winds, a quintet of musicians from Yale, are recent winners of the Silver Medal at the prestigious 2007 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition. They will be performing an interesting and varied program ranging from music by Paul Taffanal, the 19th century founder of modern French school of flute playing, to the elegant and charming music of Jean Francaix and including works by contemporary American composers Elliot Carter and Donald Hagar. The Steeplechase at Oak Ridge, now in its fourth season, takes place in Arrington, VA.   This family oriented event provides a variety of activities and entertainment throughout the day. In addition to six races (three over fences and three on the flat) guests have the opportunity to watch the terrier races, participate in the course walk, visit the vendor tents or simply stroll the grounds while listening to the bluegrass band.
