TWEEN TRIPS
For middle school youth, Grades 6-9 Meet the Rec Bus for a day of fun. All trips require pre-registration Payment is due at time of registration Fee includes entry fee & transportation All trips require a parent/guardian signed waiver. Minimum: 15 Maximum: 20 participants

2. HORSE TRAIL RIDE August 7th VA Mountain Outfitters, Buena Vista $32 Leave the Nelson Center @ 9 am Return 1:30 pm Minimum: 6 Maximum: 9

FISHING DAY
DATE: SATURDAY, July 26th time: 9 am-11:30am, LOCATION: Lake Nelson, FEE: $2 per PERSON ages: 9-14. Fishing poles and bait supplied. INSTRUCTOR: Jason Keys – Nelson Co. Game Warden & local fish biologist. Pre-register by July 17th Call 263-7130 Prizes will be awarded for the biggest fish caught and most fish caught.

GEOCACHING
DATE: Saturday, August 9th TIME: 9-10:30 am FEE: $5 WHERE: Blue Ridge Rail Trail Learn the basics of geocaching and how to understand the functions of a GPS. GPS’s will be provided, but you may bring your own. Ages: 12 & up Register by August 1 Minimum: 6 Maximum: 18

NO LIGHT ~ NIGHT HIKE
DATE: Friday, August 22nd , TIME: 8pm FEE: $2 Join us on the Blue Ridge Railway Trail. *No flashlights* Learn how to depend on other senses rather than sight and identify some nocturnal creatures moving about. Meet at the Piney River trailhead on Rte 151 Guide: Gary Cody Register by Fri. August 15th Minimum: 6 Maximum: 12 Children must be accompanied by an adult.

JAMES RIVER TUBE TRIP
DATE: August 23rd $15 per person Ages: 12 years & up James River State Park Register & pay by August 15th A leisurely float down the James River. Stop, swim, and bask in the sun. Leave Nelson Center at 10am Return to the Nelson Center by 3-4 pm. Transportation (Rec. Bus), life jacket, tube, and river provided. Bring packed lunch, drinks (no glass), sunscreen, & dry clothes.

Outdoor Adventure Group

New group being formed for kids ages 11-14 at the Nelson Middle School.

We meet randomly once a month on Thursday mornings at the NMS. Group purpose is to enjoy

outdoor adventure trips - caving, canoeing, tubing, rock climbing, hiking, etc. Call 263-7130

Trail is Open - Delfosse Trails at Delfosse Winery in Faber, VA
Open 9 am-Dusk, 7 days a week to hikers and mountain bikers and scheduled ATV rides.
5.5 miles of trail in the Mountains on Natural Surface. For directions to the trail, call 1-434-263-7130.
