Oakland Museum Annual Membership Meeting and Program
April 11
April 11, 2021 (tentative date). “Dr. W. Horsley Gantt, M.D.: A man for all reasons! Dr. Gantt was a true son of Nelson County. Born at Wingina in 1892, he was descended from Dr. William Cabell, the first European settler of Nelson. After being taught by his mother in a one-room schoolhouse, he went on to graduate from UVA Medical School. After working in Russia with Pavlov, the Nobel behaviorist, he returned to open the Pavlovian Laboratory at Johns Hopkins. His life was one of many interests and full of adventure, yet he always considered Nelson his real home.”
